Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This report draws together the earlier work of EDDIT on accidents involving elderly drivers, behavioural and medical aspects affecting the driving performance of older people and ATT systems that could be of help to elderly drivers. These issues are reviewed and a number of ATT systems are proposed for evaluation within the EDDIT project. These include route guidance, emergency alert, revising aid, road junction (collision warning) MMI, in-vehicle road signs, vision enhancement and a comparison of head-up display with on-dashboard display of information. The basic research methodology for both in-car and simulator trials is outlined together with a programme for the evaluation.
