Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This report describes the research methodology that will be used when carrying out driving simulator tests with elderly drivers. The methodology consists of an initial questionnaire and subject characterisation tests (vision, hearing, memory and attention), familiarisation with the simulator, the test process and a post-test questionnaire. The methodology is to be used in studies designed to compare head up display with on-dashboard display, to evaluate a gap acceptance system, to determine the interaction between the degree of complexity and the size of guidance symbols displayed inside the vehicle, and to test the value of a gap acceptance/collision warning system at T-junctions.
