Abstract

This report provides an overview of existing driving aids for drivers with special needs (DSN). Aids are divided into three categories, i.e. information technology, adaptable control, mobility and car adaptation aids. The results have been classified and form the TELAID aid coding scheme, a detailed 4-digit system with over 180 codes and sub-codes. The relevant aids are analytically presented together with the TELAID coding scheme with EU driving licence codes and the aid cost mean value and standard deviation. A detailed list, by country, of car adaptation manufacturers and equipment manufacturers active in the field is included. Initial work towards construction of the TELDAT database, to include all this information, is presented.
