Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

A survey was conducted of existing guidelines which are relevant to the three types of aids for DSN i.e. adaptable control aids, mobility and car adaptation aids, and IT aids (mainly ATT). A mapping of design guidelines for ATT systems according to MMI aspects for DSN has also been conducted. Design issues, references, relevance of existing guidelines to drivers with special needs and ATT systems, and recommendations for changes to an existing guideline for further research and development are listed under the following headings: user and task match aspects, usability goals, input aspects, output aspects, and physical characteristics of the aid. A survey and classification of existing guidelines on non ATT aids for DSN has been conducted and the results are presented in a codified form. Guidelines for ATT and non-ATT DSN aids are proposed.
