The EUROTECNET programme aims to promote innovation in vocational training resulting from technological change. This book, resulting from one project within this programme, suggests that the training answer to the challenge of technological change does not lie in increasing the number of external training activities but in enabling workers to learn spontaneously within the workplace and the normal working environment. The concept of self-learning competency is described and the methodological and organisational issues surrounding the new learning paradigm are examined. Finally the development of continuous learning systems is discussed.
