Abstract

The future of the European economic and social area will be characterised in many respects by the European Single Market. This book conveys the overall European perspective while emphasising individual national characteristics. The problems facing industry and work in the Single Market, particularly in respect of globalisation and new production concepts, are discussed. Regional descriptions provide an insight into the variety of structures and working cultures in Europe.
