  • Science and technology for the eight billion people of the planet by 2020 : Basic report no. 4 : The Japanese project : A proposal concerning technology and human welfare : Toward building a harmonious global society


The basic approach for building a harmonious social system on a global scale is outlined and the policy involved in creating a new framework for technological control is defined. The implementation of technology assessment is discussed in relation to evaluating the impact of technology on people, society as a whole and the natural environment. The promotion of technological development for diverse standards of living is examined and the use of technology-environment-development metrics (TED metrics) to promote progress in these areas is suggested.
