This volume reports on work undertaken in a number of European countries aimed at understanding the genetics and improving the quality of cashmere, mohair, and South American camelid and Angora rabbit fibres. The work brings together the experiences of leading scientists working on a number of breeding schemes in Europe such as those for French mohair and Scottish cashmere. It demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinating breeding activities using reliable and comprehensive systems of performance and pedigree recording.
