This book presents the proceedings of a workshop on the potential and limits of organic farming. The aim of the meeting was to establish the state of European research into organic farming and to identify promising research areas. The agenda concentrated on agronomic aspects of the whole system of organic farming and on major crops. The publication contains 18 papers which were presented and discussed in the following areas: systems approach; economic and environmental aspects of organic farming; weed control; fertilisation and soil fertility; crop rotation; plant protection.
