Abstract

This study investigates the influence of granite on leaching of fully radioactive waste glass (French R7T7 glass) and two types of spent fuel, UO(2) and MOX. The experiments, performed under dynamic conditions, showed that granite induces a reduction of the leaching for both fission products and actinides. For glass a reduction by a factor of 2 is observed for fission products and for the main glass components. In the case of fuel, the relative reduction is even higher in comparison to glass; reduction factors of 10 and more are observed.
