Structure of URuAl by single-crystal neutron diffraction at 120 K
In this paper the results of a single-crystal neutron-diffraction refinement of the compound URuAl are reported. The experiment was undertaken as a preliminary step for a magnetisation density study using polarised neutrons. The structure can be described as a stacking of atomic layers with U-Ru layers alternating with Ru-Al layers. Two distinct atomic sites are occupied by the transition metal atom. A refinement of the neutron coherent scattering length for the ruthenium element is also reported.
