In the TCV tokamak both diverted and limited ohmic H-modes have been obtained. At the L-H transition, the level of broadband magnetic turbulence is reduced by an order of magnitude. The amplitude and frequency of the n = 1 coherent modes also drop and an unidentified high order mode with f > 30 kHz is observed during the subsequent ELM-free period. Both large amplitude and grassy ELMs are studied.
