Abstract

A detailed documentation of the experimental arrangement of the low energy neutral particle analyser (LENA) at W7-AS is given. The diagnostic routinely measured CX-fluxes and energy distributions during the period from 1992 to 1994. Some typical results are reported and a phenomenological discussion of the reaction of the CX-fluxes and spectra to the variation of various plasma parameters is presented. The comparison with H(alpha)-signals indicates whether variations of the CX-fluxes are due to changes of the wall recycling or due to alterations of the plasma profiles. T(i) profiles near the edge can be determined from the LENA spectra when the neutral atom density is simulated by the EIRENE code.
