Abstract

A quasi-CW 0.5 MW-118 GHz gyrotron has been designed and built for ECRH on Tore Supra and TCV. The main parameters of the gyrotron are listed, and theoretical calculations given for the electron gun and cavity performances, mode competition and the quasi-optical mode convertor. Measurements of the uploaded cavity characteristics are described, and the measurement procedures for mode content, frequency and RF power determination are also outlined.
