EC Working Group on human embryos and research : Research on bioethicsFunded under: FP3-BIOMED 1
The first report from the working group is confined to issues concerning the pre-implantation embryo. It attempts to provide a factual account of procedures that might by undertaken in vitro on the embryo at this stage, and the extent to which these are permitted or limited, country by country. The group has attempted to identify major divergences in practice and to discuss the implications. The second report outlines similarly the situation in relation to the post-implantation embryo and foetus. With reference to possible uses of foetal material, the goals and limitations and the questions of consent and supply are also considered.
