Cosmetic talc : A structural and elemental characterization of different commercial products
In this publication results are presented for fifteen body talc samples from various European countries which have been analyzed by different techniques. The structure (using X-ray diffraction and light microscopy) and the chemical composition (by X-ray fluorescence and elemental analysis) have been determined. Quantitative determination of clinochlore, quartz; the metals lead, nickel, chromium, zinc, copper, manganese, titanium; and organic carbon, inorganic carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen have been carried out. The limit of detection by X-ray diffraction of the fibrous asbestos mineral tremolite (hazardous to health) has also determined.
