This study focuses on protein deficiency in Europe. It also provides an insight into the role of the physiology of farm animals in relation to the uptake and excretion of nitrogen and the possible role of more efficient diets and feeding systems. The areas of research covered are economic analysis, animal nutrition, analysis of technical and economic options, and analysis of the consequences of the proposed research upon the balance of animal feed.
