Further development of existing measurement techniques for plant controlFunded under: ECSC-STEELRES 8C
The currently available methods for early fault diagnosis have been evaluated, and the required improvements of condition inspections for preventive maintenance have been determined. In continuous casting plants, load measurements at drive systems for the early detection of fatigue fracture and bearing damage as well as motion measurements at the mould oscillating table have been carried out. The results served both to identify causes of damage and as the basis for proposals for design and control engineering improvements. Nondestructive wire rope tests for the determination of operational normality have been performed in the crane area. The measured-value recording and evaluation of the signals of an existing magneto-inductive test equipment has been improved by application of digital techniques.
