Dynamic loading test programme to confirm ITER components performanceFunded under: JRC-FUSAFE 5C
In order to demonstrate the validity of the ITER first-wall/blanket/shield/vacuum vessel design solutions and their respective reinforcement systems against off-normal events such as plasma disruptions, a specific ITER Task, called ETA-EC-BLR-7, has been established. The major goal was to identify the operating parameters required to confirm the performance of the ITER components and to define a testing programme layout. Investigations on mock-ups have been proposed, in order to measure the expected performance of the first-wall, shield-blanket, blanket attachment and vacuum vessel during off-normal and excursion conditions. The discussions were based on the available ITER components design solutions (TAC4). In the paper, priority is given to the mechanical dynamic simulation testing of ITER components models using the available European test-rigs. The dynamic loading test conditions needed for the definition of mock-ups are examined.
