Abstract

As part of its safeguards activities, JRC Ispra has been developing active interrogation instruments called PHONID (Photon Neutron Interrogation Device). This document gives a technical description of the PHONID device which has been constructed to measure, by a non-destructive method (NDA), quantities of 235U contained in any uranium bearing sample. It also provides a user guide to operation of the PHONID 3-B.
