The recently-published IRDAC report on quality and relevance finds that European industry is losing its competitive edge against competitors in Japan, other Asian countries and the United States. To blame are Europe's lack of flexibility and its failure to focus on innovation. Europe can only regain its position as a world class industrial region by making education and training an integral part of its industrial research process.
