Libraries in Central and Eastern Europe : Options, priorities and next stepsFunded under: FP3-VALUE 2
This extract summarises the discussion at a workshop held in 1994 on the needs of the library infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe. The report first considers the status, policies and strategies of libraries in their national context and the need for information coordination and communication. Secondly it examines specific professional issues, such as human resource development, public library systems and library automation. In the future, the aim should be to move from providing assistance to Central and Eastern European libraries towards cooperative action and full integration.
