The second ECSC workshop on technological problems related to scrap utilisation in steelmaking was held in Brussels on 24 November 1994. Virtually half of the steel produced comes from recycling. Steel scrap is increasingly becoming a valuable raw material and losing its original character of a waste product. The second ECSC workshop on steelmaking was dedicated to examining in depth the problems involved in the utilisation of steel scrap in order to achieve high quality steel products under an approach of general environmental awareness. These proceedings report all contributions given and the conclusions drawn, as well as an evaluation of the ECSC steel research projects on EAF steel production funded in the period 1991-93.
