Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The COST framework has proved to be suitable for several types of research work. In most cases it is used to co-ordinate, at European level, existing or proposed research programmes in such fields as: research on topics of international interest (such as oceanography, environmental protection, meteorology). R&D and adaptation of the various standards and specifications among European countries. The scope of COST co-operation has also been broadened by new topics: a survey of all activities carried out in the field of neuroscience in Europe, an ad hoc committee dealing with technology-oriented physics, and a number of co-ordinated activities in the field of biological and agricultural research.
