Abstract

British Coal took the decision to centralise monitoring and control of underground ancillary services and equipment such as pumps controlling mine water, auxiliary ventilation fans and their associated electrical distribution systems. The main objective of this project was to implement such a system at several test sites with different applications, mining conditions and types of equipment. The project succeeded in developing this system to the level of commercial availability.
