  • Extension of the ASDEX Upgrade programme : Divertor II and tungsten target plate experiment : Application for preferential support, Phase I and II

The ASDEX Upgrade programme now requires the development of a new divertor configuration and modifications to the target plate structures. These modifications will test the physics functionality of design elements proposed for the ITER divertor. This report summarises ASDEX Upgrade results to date, and reviews the future divertor programme. In particular it considers the testing of the high-Z divertor target plates, plasma and poloidal field configurations, and the design and construction of Divertor II. It also considers the use of the cryo pump, and implications for the diagnostics.
