This article reviews the history and classification of biopesticides, as well as their economic and regulatory aspects. A discussion of pest resistance to biopesticides and the various attempts to overcome it is also documented. It is concluded that integrating biopesticides into a whole range of biological and conventional methods to control plant pests is the most promising strategy. Different integrated pest management strategies should be developed according to the size and capability of controlling for either small, isolated plots, or large-scale fields.
