Phebus FP : An international severe accident research programmeFunded under: FP3-FUSION 11C
The main hazard during a hypothetical severe nuclear reactor accident resides in its fission product (FP) inventory. In the Phebus FP experimental programme, physical and chemical phenomena can be studied relative to fuel dislocation, FP release and transport, and iodine species in the containment. Equipment design and experimental procedures are supported by modelling and code calculations. This report gives details of the experimental facilities available, summarises the results of the first programme and outlines the second, planned for June 1995.
