A mathematical model for axisymmetric two-phase flows is presented which accounts for particle three-dimensional motion. The analysis reveals the importance of considering the azimuth particle velocity for better understanding of the phenomena in two-phase flow. It is shown that for a confined axisymmetric flow the particle-wall interaction is the main phenomenon that influences the non-uniformity of the volume fraction. The model is validated against experimental data for upward gas-particle pipe flow.
