Abstract

A programme of collaboration has been established between the Euratom Safeguards Directorate and the Russian Federation. Two projects have been defined relating to physical inventory taking (PIT) and physical inventory verification (PIV) procedures. This report presents the background to the programme and the testing of these procedures in various installations in the Russian Federation, which has yielded valuable insights into the issues of nuclear materials accounting and control.
