The use of 3-D computer graphics for the analysis of AVHRR time-series
This study is based on monthly averaged NDVI data for the African continent from 1983-91. The AVHRR image data have been reprojected and combined with a digital terrain model. Ray imaging techniques are then used to produce true 3D images from any viewpoint. This allows vegetation dynamics to be studied in relation to altitude. Using techniques of computer animation, video tape sequences of simulated fly-overs and close-up 3D views have been produced.
