Implementing simulations of isotropic turbulence in highly parallel computersFunded under: EAEC-FUSION 12C
A new turbulence theory based on the renormalisation group (RG) technique is expected to help in understanding fundamental aspects of turbulence. In order to develop and improve RG theory, statistical data of turbulent flow must be derived from direct numerical simulations. This paper describes the set-up of a Navier-Stokes solving code and the preliminary tests performed to establish low order statistics. The results indicate that the implemented codes are operational.
