This paper reports on the performance of six methods for the extraction of CB congeners from sewage sludge. As the test matrix a dried sewage sludge was selected. The performance of the various extraction methods was evaluated for a set of seven congeners available from the same source as certified standards. The study was therefore carried out on a real contaminated sludge over a prolonged period with a minimised number of error sources.
