Abstract

Two major activities at the Institite for Transuranium Elements during 1991 were an investigation of the heat capacity of uranium dioxide at extremely high temperatures, and the structural analysis of fuels which underwent transient testing in the Riso fission gas release project. Attention also focused on the behaviour of spent fuel under long-term storage, and on the partitioning and transmutation of long-lived nuclides in radioactive waste.
