Following the advice of the Consultative Committee for the Fusion Programme (CCFP), a Licensing Working Party was set up to carry out a comparative study of the licensing procedures for the construction and operation of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, ITER. The contribution of JRC Ispra relates to the licensing experience gathered from nuclear plants involved in the Thermonuclear Fusion Programme, implemented or designed for the Ispra site according to Italian law. The report considers siting, construction, emergency planning, operations, transport, decommissioning and eventual waste disposal.
