Abstract

The manual is presented as a guide to the different steps in the decisions usually encountered in air pollution monitoring. This guide helps the network decision-maker in regard to the following problems: (i) the selection of monitoring systems to be used for sampling and analysis of air pollutants and for their calibrations; (ii) the procedures to be routinely implemented in monitoring stations in order to guarantee the accuracy of the systems; (iii) the procedures to be implemented in monitoring networks in order to guarantee the reproducibility between networks. Volumes I and II deal with sulphur dioxide monitoring and black smoke monitoring respectively.
