Abstract

This report presents the results of a European intercomparison of the magnetic properties, mainly the magnetic loss, of electrical steel under the condition of rotating flux density and alternating flux density, where the direction varies in the sample's plane. Two grades of grain-oriented and six grades of non-oriented material were included in the exercise. A total of six laboratories, representing the European laboratories being active in this field, took part in the intercomparison. The six laboratories applied different, partly similar measurement methods for their measurements. In many cases, particularly where similar methods were applied, the agreement obtained was quite good. However, there was also a considerable number of cases with remarkable discrepancies. So far the result does not allow clear preference to be assigned to any of the methods applied.
