Coordination with research activities within the European Union : The example of controlled thermonuclear fusionFunded under: EAEC-FUSION 12C
This report shows how full coordination of research and technological development activities within the member states of the EU has been implemented in the area of controlled nuclear fusion over the last thirty years. The Fusion Programme is presently the only research activity integrating all European efforts in a specific area. This integration has been essential for optimum use of the available human and financial resources, and has enabled the EU to be recognised as an equal partner in a unique worldwide collaboration, in the Mega-project ITER.
