Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

Since 1992, the Euratom Safeguards Directorate of the European Commission has been collaborating with the Russian Federation on safeguards matters. The latest phase of the collaboration centres around three projects which are being undertaken over a prolonged period. The paper describes the objectives of each project and progress to date. The three projects are: (i) the development of joint recommendations on physical inventory taking (PIT) at WWER-1000 nuclear power plants and at a LEU fuel fabrication plant; (ii) the development and implementation of a centralised information system to be used by Minatom; (iii) the development and implementation of a computerised nuclear material accounting and control information system for the Gosatomnadzor region.
