Abstract

Based on retention behaviour in experiments with reversed phase HPLC, pyrethroids can be classified as non-polar analytes. The use of solid phase extraction in combination ac/ECD is discussed as a feasible method for the determination of pyrethroids in water at determination limits of low ng/l. The behaviour of pyrethroids on a C18 sorbent has enabled the development of two powerful automated analytical methods in which the extraction of pyrethroids from aqueous samples and clean-up of non polar interferences are combined. Both automated and non-automated procedures have been applied for the analysis of pyrethroids in water samples at a determination level of 10 ng/l and 2 microg/l respectively.
