A study on the mechanical behaviour of PSZ (5 %wt.yttria) during bending tests comparing Weibull statistical model and acoustic emission results
A promising method of increasing the toughness of advanced ceramics is by adding a second constituent which will stabilise a phase within the material. This report concerns a PSZ (partially stabilised zirconia) containing 5 % yttria. During the test, acoustic emissions (AE) were monitored to evaluate the energy released during critical crack propagation and the duration of failure phenomena for each specimen.
