Abstract

Five sets of aerosol problems were proposed to the international community as benchmarks for the codes currently used for modelling the thermal-hydraulics and aerosol physics in nuclear power plants. Two of those sets of problems concerned the thermal-hydraulic behaviour of the STORM facility, one of them concentrating on the mixing vessel, and the other on the STORM circuit. The other three sets of problems dealt respectively with aerosol agglomeration and deposition in the mixing vessel, aerosol resuspension in the test section, and aerosol resuspension from the test section. The contributions on the mixing vessel thermal-hydraulics and on aerosol resuspension show large differences that stress the need for a good database of experimental results, highlighting the importance of the STORM project.
