Abstract

The work described is a contribution to the development of efficient software for solving the three-dimensional static multigroup transport equation, with particular emphasis on hexagonal-z geometry. The overall background is the development of space-time neutronics codes for accident simulation. It gives a brief overview of model transport methods and the non-linearity of the nodal response. Various illustrative and validating numerical results are reported and compared with other theoretical methods. The new higher order transport option is shown to apply for voided core calculations.
