Summary of the PISC III capability studies on wrought and cast austenitic steel welds
PISC III (Phase 3 of the Programme for the Inspection of Steel Components) began in 1986 with the objective to conduct studies on components, materials and flaws representative of those conditions found in nuclear power plants. A total of eight actions were designed to address specific aspects of the identified important problems for which solutions might be found. Action 4 on austenitic steel testing was one of these and comprised two parametric studies, three capability studies, and one reliability study. This paper reports on the capability studies conducted on wrought and cast austenitic stainless steel piping.
