Abstract

The programme AECC (Active Euratom Coincidence Counters), has been developed at the JRC, Ispra by the Euratom Safeguards Directorate, Luxembourg and the Safety Technology Institute, Ispra for the acquisition, evaluation, management and storage of measurement data originating from active neutron assay of uranium materials. The software accommodates the implementation of NDA procedures for all types of active neutron coincidence. The user manual of the code AECC (Ver 3.15) is conceived for the utilisation of a personal computer linked to a shift register for the assay of uranium content fuel. It is based on an MS-DOS system under Windows 3 environment, and permits the user to store calibration, constants, measurements and assay data on hard or floppy disk for ulterior evaluation. The inspector is guided by the screen display step by step from the inspection initialisation, the configuration set-up, the background measurement and the instrument tests to the assay and data storage. An annotated description of the program is given.
