Radiation damage in platinumFunded under: JRC-ADVMAT 2C
Using precision measurements of the electrical resistivity, the damage in 2 MeV electron irradiated high purity platinum was studied. Experiments were performed at a temperature of -30 C which is just below recovery stage III. A change in resistivity of 6.5 nanoOhm.cm at this temperature was observed. An irradiation induced Frenkel defect concentration of 1.0 E-4 could be roughly estimated.
