Parametric studies of the s-process-constraints from the capture rates of 136,138Ba
High resolution time-of-flight neutron capture measurements of the 136,138 Ba isotopes were carried out at the pulsed electron linac GELINA in the energy range 100 eV - 200 keV. The resonances of the 136,138/Ba(n,gamma) cross-sections were analysed, and stellar capture rates as a function of temperature kT determined. The capture cross-sections of s-only 136 Ba and the bottle neck 138 Ba give clues about the nature of the main s-process nucleosynthesis which is applied to reproduce heavy element abundances between mass number 90 and 200. Calculations were performed assuming a pulsed s-process initiated (i) by burning of only one neutron source and (ii) by combined burning of two neutron sources at different temperatures around 8 and 25 keV respectively.
