Abstract

Nine ceramic raw materials were characterised by chemical analysis and the morphology was determined by electron microscopy in combination with automated image analysis. Fibre samples were also subjected to two biological activity assays, measuring cytotoxicity and hydroxyl radical production. To investigate the produced data structure, Principle Components Analysis (PCA) and Partial Least Square (PLS) were applied together with vigourous validation techniques.
