  • Integrating radar and remote sensing techniques of rainfall estimation in hydrological applications for flood hazard mitigation : The European contribution : Perspectives and prospects

This report gives a description of available techniques for the radar and satellite remote sensing of precipitation. An outline is provided of some applications of remote sensing-based techniques in real-time rain fall and flood forecasting. The results from a number of EC-funded research projects are presented. These projects are mainly focused on the use of telemetering raingauge networks, weather radar, and sensors installed for hydrological applications for flood hazard mitigation.
