Crash tests of thin sheet aluminium boxes by means of a large Hopkinson bar device
The large Hopkinson's bar method allows an accurate measurement of load and displacement values obtained by deforming thin sheet metal structures at high strain rates. The experimental tests were carried out at different impact velocities on thin sheet aluminium boxes used as crash absorbers for the vehicles' safety. This study gives a better understanding of thin sheet aluminium mechanical behaviour.
